Sandy Mush Learn and Burn

The Sandy Mush Learn-and-Burn has been postponed to Spring 2023. Our burn window will open up in February, and there will be updates as we get closer. Please let me know if you would like to join the distribution list.

Join NC Wildlife Resources Commission and the Forest Stewards Guild for an opportunity to observe a live controlled burn at the Sandy Mush Game Lands. We will be burning in a shortleaf pine savanna ecosystem to maintain the diversity of native warm season grasses and restore small game habitat.
Please register for this event by this link.

Burn window: February 1 - 28, 2023

Controlled burns, or prescribed fire, is the planned use of fire under predetermined weather and fuel parameters to obtain specific management objectives. And sometimes, even after hours of planning, the weather decides to not cooperate. Burn managers know at least a few days in advance if fire weather is going to be good to burn. Our current plan is to keep you all in touch and notify you of the burn day as it comes.

Please note that signing up for this email list is not your registration to attend the burn. We will be keeping in touch via email. Please check your email often as the burn window approaches. For questions, contact dakota@forestguild.org
